How to crochet gift tag

Quick and Easy Crochet Gift Tags Pattern

Materials:

  • 35 yds of Worsted yarn in 3 shades
  • 35m DK/Size 3 yarn
  • I used Sirdar Snuggly Cashmere Merino, (57% wool, 33% acrylic, 10% cashmere, 50g, 130m) in shade 467
  • 4mm Crochet Hook
  • Scissors
  • Needle

For the Santa’s belt version, I used WeCrochet Brava Worsted in Red and Black plus a scrap of yellow.

Abbreviations

US Terms (UK in brackets)

St(s)  – Stitches

Ch – Chain

Sl st – Slip stitch

Sc (Dc) – Single Crochet (Double Crochet)

Sc2tog (dc2tog) – Single (double) crochet decrease

RS – Right side

Pattern Notes

  • Read through entire pattern before beginning. Please email [email protected] if you need assistance
  • This pattern is worked in rows with the edging worked in the round
  • Beginning Ch 1 DOES NOT count as a stitch.

Finished Size:

  • 3.5″ in length by 3″ wide when made with DK
  • 4″ in length by 3″ wide when made with Aran/Worsted

  •  Gauge is not essential

Easy Crochet Gift Tag Pattern

Round 1: With A, ch 23, sl st to 1st ch to create ring, ch 1, sc in each around, join. (23 sc)

Rounds 2-4: With B, ch 1, sc in each around, join. (23 sc)

Rounds 5-6: With C, ch 1, sc in each around, join. (23 sc)

Row 1: RS Ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across, turn. (12 sc)

Row 2-13: Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc in same as ch 1, sc in each across, turn. (12 sc)

Row 14: Ch 1, starting in same , sc2tog, sc in each across to last 2 sts, sc2tog, turn. (10 sc)

Row 15: Ch 1, sc in same as ch 1, sc in each across, turn. (10 sc)

Row 16: Repeat Row 14. (8 sc)

Row 17: Ch 1, sc in next 3, ch 2, skip 2 sts, sc in last 3, turn. (6 sc, ch-2 sp)

Row 18: Ch 1, starting in same, sc2tog, sc in next, 2sc in ch-2 sp, sc in next, sc2tog, turn. (6 sc)

Row 19: Ch 1, sc in same as ch 1, sc in each across, do not turn. (6 sc)

Continue to Edging.

Crochet Gift tag Pattern

Edging : Ch 1, rotate to work row einnds, 18 sc evenly across, (sc, ch 1, sc) in corner, rotate to work opposite side of starting ch, sc in next 10, (sc, ch 1, sc) in corner, rotate to work across row ends, sc evenly across, (sc, ch 1, sc) in final decrease, rotate to work across Row 19, sc in each across to end (6 sc), sl st to 1st sc to join.

Fasten off, weave in remaining ends.

Crochet Christmas Gift Tag Pattern

To create Santa’s Belt Tag, you can simply follow the same pattern but change the colours use in the rows:

Rows 1-6: Red

Rows 7-9: Black



Rows 10-19: Red

Edging: Red

With scraps of yellow, sew Buckle at Row 6-9 using picture as a guide.
