Recommended Materials to Make a Crochet Heart
In the video tutorial, I used a DK/size 3 100% acrylic in a bright shade of red, and this is a great low-cost material that you can easily find in your yarn stash or pick up in any craft store.
To create a super-smooth finish to your project, I’d highly recommend using 100% cotton or cotton blend in place of the acrylic yarn as the different in fibre content will prevent any fluffiness in the yarn – not that it’s a bad thing, but it looks so good when it’s all smooth.
I’d also say not to limit yourself to using a size 3 or DK weight yarn – I made a couple in chunky/bulky yarn, and they worked up almost 50% bigger and were super squishy too! Picture below is the chunky weight heart I made.
