Roving Dreams Pillow Cover | Free Crochet Pattern

This quick crochet pillow cover pattern is a great introduction to learn how to crochet a cushion cover – this pattern uses the linen stitch which works up quickly as you work the stitches into the chain spaces.

The pattern uses super chunky yarn which makes the project extra speedy too – you’ll find the details on how to create the size you need for your cushion pillow below too, so you can make it to fit.

The simple US single crochet join creates a bold border and makes the need to sew your crochet cushion square together redundant – and it’s much quicker than sewing too.

What Yarn is Suitable for a chunky crochet pillow?

This free crochet pillow pattern can be worked up in any super bulky or chunky yarn.

I used a roving style yarn to match the Roving Dreams Bed Runner, another free pattern available on this website.

The crochet bed runner and pillow patterns, coordinate perfectly when worked in the same yarn and aim to re-create the look of those arm knitted blankets for added  squish in the bedroom.

What is Roving Yarn?

Roving yarn is yarn that is not tightly wound. The fibres of the yarn are not tight together; this makes roving yarn more difficult to undo if you spot a mistake – but with care and time, it can be frogged (ripped out).

This style of yarn can shed as you are working with it – a clothes brush is essential to remove the loose fibres from your clothes after working with it.

What Yarn was the free crochet pillow stitched up in?

I used Sirdar Adventure Super Chunky (200g = 106 m/ 115 yds, 80% Acrylic, 20% Wool) in shade Golden Dawn.
