Open Scallop Crochet Pattern Tutorial
The Open Scallop crochet stitch creates the most beautiful pattern of shells stacked on top of each other which can be used in crochet tops, crochet cushions and even as a border to a crochet blanket! I’ve featured this beautiful stitch in my All Buttoned Up Vest top to create an open and lightweight tank top.
Open Scallop Stitch Pattern | Free Crochet Stitch Tutorial
The open scallop stitch pattern is firmly becoming a firm favourite of mine due to it’s simple repetitive, 1 row repeat and for the lovely crochet pattern it creates with each shell on top of one another; it creates a very uniform, light textured crochet fabric.
I recently used this crochet stitch in a new summer crochet top design, the All Buttoned Up Vest Top as the final row created a beautiful waved edge to finish the neck line. If you’re looking for a crochet pattern than features this stitch, I’d highly recommend this tank top pattern .
This tutorial will show you exactly how to crochet the open scallop stich which uses US Double crochet to create the shells and the Wide Double crochet 2 Together to create the openness of the stitch pattern.
I know you’ll love this stitch just as much as I do, and I can’t wait to feature it in even more designs – especially in a pretty cushion cover! Or even a crochet blanket for those summer days, picnicking in the park!
