Wrapped Up in Diamond Crochet Cable Patterns
Make the post of those post stitches to create a unique diamond crochet cable pattern to use in 3 different projects that will have you wrapped up in style.
Wrapped Up In Diamonds Collection
Crochet cable stitches seem almost otherworldly; and its a misconception to think cables can only be created with knitting needles. This collection of 3 crochet patterns use only front post stitches to create waves of diamonds throughout these designs.
Crochet Cable stitches can seem overwhelming when you first begin to and understand them, but this collection focuses on a simple stitch pattern that repeats every 3 rows, to create a diamond pattern that is easy to recreate and uses only front post stitches to reduce the complexity of the crochet patterns.
There are 3 different projects to create using this stitch pattern that will allow you to master the stitch pattern:
- Crochet Cable Scarf – great to learn and practice the Wrapped in Diamonds stitch pattern
- Crochet Cable Beanie – add the use of front post and back post stitches to create a ribbing
- Crochet Sweater – this intermediate pattern will showcase how to make a seamless sweater, worked bottom up that uses both the diamond cable pattern and the post stitch ribbing, but worked in the round
All 3 patterns are available in the Wrapped Up in Diamonds Collection.
New to Crochet Cables?
Like any technique in crochet, there are different levels of difficulty in crochet cables, which will depend on the type of cable being created.
The Wrapped in Diamonds Cable pattern is a great introduction to working post stitches in a cable formation as all the post stitches are worked on the right side of the crochet fabric. Unlike the more complex rope or twist cable stitches, there are no complicated crossing or leaning of stitches, just front post stitches worked around each other as you progress up the length of the project.
Each of the patterns include a detailed photo tutorial to help with the post stitch placement, along with a stitch chart to support the written pattern. If you opt to purchase the patterns, you’ll receive 2 versions of each pattern, so you can choose to follow the pattern in either UK or US terms.
As the patterns each feature the same cable pattern, you will have the chance to focus on the stitch pattern with as you create a stunning scarf, introduce post stitch ribbing as you make a corresponding hat, and finally, push your crochet skills as you create a stunning cable sweater to wear.
These patterns are ideal if you are looking to increase your confidence in crocheting cable stitches, and want to progress into more complex stitch patterns.

Wrapped Up In Diamonds Scarf
The first pattern in the collection will introduce to to the diamond crochet cable pattern, that is supported with a full video tutorial taking you through each of the stitches, step by step, including how to add the fringing.
This scarf pattern was the first design in the collection and had me obsessed with the stitch pattern. The wavy diamonds are framed on each edge of the scarf with 2 rows of front post stitches which creates a solid edge to the scarf, reducing any need to block the finished project.
The pattern is worked in short rows, from the bottom to the top of the scarf, giving you complete control of the length. The pattern is written for a finished length of 58″ long by 8″ wide excluding fringe and the length can be easy increased by continuing the cable pattern repeat.

Wrapped Up In Diamonds Beanie
I love a matching set, so of course there has to be a corresponding hat to go with the scarf! The Wrapped Up in Diamonds Beanie also introduces another stitch used in the sweater pattern; post stitch ribbing.
Alongside the diamond crochet cable pattern, the ribbing adds another crochet skill to master that will be used on many patterns. It’s a great alternative to back loop ribbing, and as it is worked in the same direction of the height of the hat, it works up much quicker than those short rows of ribbing.
The pattern is currently written to fit adult size (22″ head circumference)

Wrapped Up In Diamonds Sweater
This cable sweater pattern showcases the diamond crochet cable pattern off to it’s absolute best. The pattern is written for 9 different sizes (XS-5XL) and the length can be adjusted.
The sweater is seamless, as the body of the sweater is worked bottom-up to the armhole before creating the sleeves separately, from the cuff to the armhole. They are then joined to the Body and finally, the shoulders and remainder of the sweater are worked in one piece.
The waving diamonds feature down the length of the sleeve, from the shoulder all the way down to the wrist along with coving the front of the sweater, framed in a similar way to the scarf.
As the image above shows, the neckline is completed with post stitch ribbing to complete the flattering fit.
The pattern has supporting photo and video tutorials to help you create the joining of the sleeves to the body of the sweater, so if you’ve never made a garment that features a yoke, you’ll be able to complete your sweater with confidence.
The pattern does have a crochet skill level of Intermediate as the pattern uses a number of more advanced techniques, but with the supporting tools, an advanced beginner will also be able to tackle the challenge.
