Skill Level: Beginner

Materials:
Gauge: 
16.5 stitches and 7 rows = 4inches (10cm) in Treble Crochet (US-Double crochet) using 6mm crochet hook. Use a larger or smaller crochet hook to obtain the correct tension.

Finished Size: 
Total length of 195cm and 28cm at widest point.

Pattern Notes:
  • Whatever your skill level with crochet, I would always recommend reading through this pattern before beginning. Get in touch if you need any help completing the pattern.
  • Increases and decrease will only be completed on evenly numbered rows.
  • Place a stitch marker in the row you 1st complete an increase (Row 2) and move up to help identify the rows to be increased/decreased. 
  • The turning chain on any row does not count as a stitch throughout pattern.

Special Stitches:
Puff Stitch: 
Yarn over hook and insert into stitch. Yarn over and draw up a loop (3 loops on hook). Yarn over hook  and draw up a loop (5 loops on hook). Repeat yarn over as above step 3 more times (11 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through all 11 loops.

How to Make This Beginner Crochet Shawl Pattern

Ch5.

Row 1: Tr in 3rd Ch from hook and each Ch along. Turn. (3)

Row 2: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same St as Ch, 2Tr in 2nd St. Tr in remaining St(s). Turn. (4)

Row 3: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same St as Ch and each St across. Turn. (4)

Repeat Rows 2 & 3 for a total of 45 Rows. (25 sts)

Row 46: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same St as Ch, 2Tr in 2nd stitch. Tr in next 2 Sts, 2Tr in next St, Tr in remaining Sts. Turn. (27)

Row 47: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same St as Ch and each St across. Turn. (27)

Repeat Rows 46 & 47 for a total of 57 Rows. (37 sts)

Row 58: Ch1, in BLO, Dc in same St as Ch. 2Dc in next St, Dc in next 2 Sts, 2Dc in next St, Dc in remaining Sts. Turn. (39)

Row 59: Ch2, Puff in same St as Ch2. *Dc, Puff*. Repeat between * and * to end. Dc in last 2 Sts. Turn. (19 Puff)

Row 60: Ch1, Dc in same St as Ch1, Dc2Tog in next St, Dc in next 2 Sts, Dc2Tog in next St. Dc in each remaining St. Turn. (37)

Row 61: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same st as Ch and each St across. Turn. (37)

Row 62: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same St as Ch, Tr2Tog in 2nd St. Tr in next 2 Sts, Tr2Tog in next St. Tr in remaining Sts. Turn. (35)

Row 63: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same St as Ch and each St across. Turn. (35)

Crochet shawl pattern

Repeat Rows 62 & 63 for a total of 73 Rows. (25 Sts)

Row 74: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same St as Ch, Tr2Tog in 2nd St. Tr in remaining Sts. Turn. (24)

Row 75: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same St as Ch and each St across. Turn. (24)

Repeat Rows 74 & 75 for a total of 117 Rows.

You will have 3 Sts remaining.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Repeat Rows 62 & 63 for a total of 73 Rows. (25 Sts)

Row 74: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same St as Ch, Tr2Tog in 2nd St. Tr in remaining Sts. Turn. (24)

Row 75: Ch2, in BLO, Tr in same St as Ch and each St across. Turn. (24)

Repeat Rows 74 & 75 for a total of 117 Rows.

You will have 3 Sts remaining.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
