Learn how to crochet a basket using a felt circle base from Joes Toes. You can also learn how crochet a base to start your basket on too.

Bobbly Crochet Basket | Free Crochet Pattern

This free crochet basket pattern has 2 options for the base of the basket, both making it safe to use on any surface.

The pattern uses the puff stitch to create a wonderful texture that can be highlighted by changing colours for the puff stitches - it would also look great worked in a single colour.

I chose to make my basket using a felt circle from Joes Toes, who make all manner of extra thick felt shapes that can be used with our crochet projects, from felt circles through to slipper soles which include a non-slip treatment.

All About the Base

I was so excited to find out about the products Joes Toes creates - the thickness of their felt makes, combines with the pre-punched holes make it a great choice to crochet on to.

I've secured an exclusive code that will take 10% off of your shopping basket at JoesToes.co.uk by using the code Bobbly10

Below you can see the 2 options for the bases for the Bobbly Basket.

Recommended Yarn for the Bobbly Basket

I delved deep into my stash for this pattern and discovered a now discontinued yarn that my hubby had treated me to and brought back from America many years ago.

I used Loops & Threads Meandering Serpentine Mini, that contained 4 skeins of yarn in various shade - if you're not familiar with Loops & Threads, it's the Michaels store, own brand of yarn.

The yarn is a Worsted, Size 4 yarn that is a 90% acrylic, 10% Nylon mix which creates a smooth fibre, if a little easy to split when used - if you love the colours I've used, search the stash swap sites, as I'm sure more people than just me have them in their stash.

You can use any yarn for this pattern, but I struggled to get the same look when I tried making a sample in 100% cotton - the yarn looked too defined, so I'd stick with an acrylic or acrylic mix.
